Jackie Robinson Breaks Color Barrier 60 years Ago

On April 15, 2007, America honored the great black baseball player, Jackie Robinson. It has been 60 years since Jackie broke the color barrier in major league baseball, but he did so at a time of a segregated America. Even though, he was a major sports figure, he stood up for equality in the face of racism and segregation for himself and all other black Americans. In 1962, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and went to the baseball world series six times. What many did not know, is that Jackie wrote a column for a syndicated newspaper, in which he was outspoken supporter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s works, and some of those of Malcolm X. There were many other activities Jackie tirelessly pursued to right the wrongs of racism and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal! He was an Honorable Man and Great Baseball Player deserving of his place in the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as an All American Hall of Fame! Below is a video of a protest in South Carolina, where Blacks were not allowed to sit in the waiting area of the airport! check out the video–
